N. Veerasamy, a TVK official and Chairman of Mambakkam Panchayat Union, was kicked out of his party and arrested. This happened after a video went viral, which supposedly showed him taking a bribe of ₹1.3 lakh from a road contractor. Veerasamy denies these claims, saying the money was to pay back a personal loan and that the video is part of a political scheme against him. This incident occurred on the same day the Tamil Nadu government, led by Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay, ordered anti-corruption signs to be put up in all public offices and launched a WhatsApp helpline for people to report bribery.
